Reduce Back Pain From Your Motorcycle

Sep 12th 2016

Nothing is as fun as cruising down the road on your motorcycle on a nice fall day. The leaves are changing colors, the weather is finally cooler, and more and more motorcyclists are out on the road, enjoying life on two wheels. However, with more time in the saddle, many people start seeing more back pain. Here are a few tips to help you ride pain-free.

  • Adjust your handlebars. If you’re tall and find that you hunch over your handlebars as you ride, simply adjusting the height and position of your handlebars can make all the difference in your comfort. Riding hunched over not only impacts your ability to see the road as you drive, but it also leads to neck, shoulder, and back pain. When you ride, you should be upright so that your shoulders and back are relatively straight.
  • Upgrade your seat. Many stock saddles are not created with comfort in mind. They’re designed to give the bike a specific look and to be comfortable to a very small set of the population. Everyone’s body type is a bit different, and the type of saddle you need may not be what’s already on your bike. Your local motorcycle dealer will be able to help you find the right saddle for your measurements and your bike’s design. Often, these new saddles feature designer stitching for an enhanced and custom look.
  • Replace your footpegs. As you ride, your bike’s footpegs determine the positions in which your body can comfortably ride. Stock footpegs are not always the right fit for every rider. Replacing your motorcycle’s footpegs with aftermarket options can help reduce fatigue and back pain. If you routinely carry a passenger, remember to consider their comfort as well. Replacing standard passenger footpegs with floorboards from RC Components will let them ride in comfort for hours at a time.

Whether you’re looking for custom motorcycle wheels, or floorboards for your passenger, RC Components can help. Check out our selection today and start customizing your bike.
